The Association of Enugu State Comedians and MCs (ASESCOM) successfully held its General Election on May 20, 2026,

ushering in a new era of leadership for the fast-growing entertainment body in Enugu State.

The election took place at the popular New Barracks Park, Ogui Junction, Enugu State, which also serves as the regular venue for the association’s monthly gatherings and activities. The event witnessed a massive turnout of entertainers, stakeholders, industry veterans, and representatives from various creative organizations across the state. Among the dignitaries and groups present during the election were representatives from DJAN, PMAN, veteran musicians, creators’ associations, and delegates from the Enugu State Government, all of whom came to observe and support the democratic process of the association. The election process was peaceful, transparent, and highly organized, reflecting the unity and professionalism among members of ASESCOM. Immediately after the announcement of results, the newly elected executives were officially sworn into office the same day amid cheers and celebrations from members and supporters. In their acceptance speeches, the new leaders pledged their commitment to advancing the association, promoting unity among comedians and MCs, empowering members, and creating greater opportunities for entertainers in Enugu State and beyond. Ogwo Chukwuma Michael popularly known as Mr Omc — President - Mc Originality Gbagam — Vice President - MC SHORTSHUN CFR — Secretary General - Chibuike Peter (Chisporting) — Assistant Secretary - Elobuike Chigozie popularly known as Michaels De Comedian — Public Relations Officer (PRO) - Comrade Umeh Izuchukwu Ugochukwu popularly known as MC Smart CFR — Treasurer - MC Plove — Welfare 1 - Geo. Daniel Maduka Enwerem popularly known as Mc Don D — Financial Secretary - Mc Dking (SonOfAKing) — Provost 1 Speaking after the inauguration, members expressed optimism that the new administration would bring growth, innovation, stronger collaborations, and increased recognition to comedians and MCs in Enugu State. The successful conduct of the election has further positioned ASESCOM as one of the most organized entertainment associations in the southeastern region of Nigeria. Industry stakeholders believe the new leadership will play a major role in promoting creativity, talent development, entertainment business growth, and youth empowerment in the state.
