Senator Ned Nwoko ; THE MOST EDUCATED LAW MAKER IN NIGERIA SENATE

As the Senator representing Delta North Senatorial District in the 10th National Assembly (2023), Prince Ned Munir Nwoko stands as a beacon of visionary leadership, intellectual depth, and relentless commitment to national development. His life story is a compelling testament to what passion, discipline, and purpose-driven service can achieve.
Born in December 1960 into the royal family of Idumuje-Ugboko in Anioma land, Delta State, Senator Nwoko’s journey has been marked by exceptional accomplishments both at home and abroad. Educated in the United Kingdom, he earned a BA (Hons) in Law and History from the University of Keele, followed by an LLM in Maritime and Commercial Law from King’s College London. He was called to the English Bar at Lincoln’s Inn and later became a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales — a rare feat that established him among the most distinguished Nigerian legal minds in the diaspora. As the Founder and Principal Partner of Ned Nwoko & Co Solicitors (London), he made history when he was recognized as the Best Black Lawyer of African Descent in England (1995). His expertise later proved invaluable to Nigeria when he spearheaded the investigation into the London and Paris Club Loans Refunds, resulting in a landmark judgment of US$3.2 billion — a monumental stride in Nigeria’s fiscal accountability and transparency. In politics, Senator Nwoko’s service record is both rich and inspiring. He first served in the House of Representatives in 1999, representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency, and returned to public office decades later with renewed vision and vigor as Senator. In the 10th Senate, he currently serves as Chairman, Senate Committee on Reparations and Repatriation, as well as the Ad-hoc Committee investigating crude oil theft in the Niger Delta. With over 30 bills and more than 20 motions to his credit, Senator Nwoko’s legislative contributions span youth entrepreneurship, environmental protection, diaspora voting, constitutional reform, community health, and resource governance — demonstrating his commitment to inclusive and sustainable development. Beyond politics, Nwoko is a passionate advocate of education, culture, and tourism. His visionary project, the Mount Ned Heritage Resort, stands as a world-class historical and cultural destination that showcases the beauty of African royalty, nature, and innovation. In January 2020, his Antarctic Expedition marked another historic milestone as he became the first black African to visit the South Pole — an adventure driven by advocacy for the Malaria Eradication Project in Africa. This act of courage and global engagement further cemented his reputation as a leader who blends intellect with action. He is also the Founder of Sports University, Idumuje-Ugboko, the first sports-focused university in West Africa, integrating academics, athletics, and entrepreneurship to nurture a new generation of African champions. Through the Prince Ned Nwoko Foundation, he has funded numerous philanthropic initiatives, including: The reconstruction of the Idumuje-Ugboko–Onicha Ugbo road, bridging the South-South and South-East regions. Scholarships to over 1,000 students across Nigeria, alongside long-term sponsorships for indigent university students. His outstanding contributions have earned him multiple recognitions, including The Heroes of Democracy Award for Best Performing Senator (2025). A true proponent of Anioma identity and Igbo unity, Senator Ned Nwoko is the chief sponsor of the Anioma State Creation Bill 481, reflecting his lifelong advocacy for justice, equity, and regional development. On a personal note, Senator Nwoko leads a disciplined and principled life. He is a vegetarian, Muslim, non-drinker, and non-smoker — embodying values of self-control and integrity that complement his public service. > “I share my story not to boast,” Senator Nwoko says, “but to remind every Nigerian that with vision, determination, and service, we can create lasting impact.” Indeed, his life continues to inspire a generation — proof that purposeful leadership is still possible in Nigeria. As he remains committed to the progress of Delta North, Anioma land, and the Nigerian nation, Senator Ned Nwoko stands as a living example of excellence in public service, philanthropy, and nation-building.
